Beautiful hotel on the banks of the river but quite a distance from the old town. So you will need transport if you plan to site see in Porto (which is a must). Comprising two buildings, the Palace with its baroque finishes certainly gives the wow factor on arrival. This building houses the reception and dining areas. The glass of port on arrival is a lovely touch. The guest rooms and indoor pool and spa is in the adjoining building which is a converted old factory. The rooms are large with a giant king size bed which is very comfortable. Most rooms have a view over the river. The guest rooms are furnished very nicely and the curtains certainly keep out the light. I was with a tour group which included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was extensive and fresh and beautifully presented. There is not and cold dishes and an extensive array of pastries. The two dinners we had at the hotel were both delicious and nicely cooked. The salmon one night and the duck the next night were perfectly cooked. The chocolate mousse one night was rich and smooth. The staff were cheerful and very helpful. Other than the place is a bit complex to get around, everything else for me was near perfect, a classy property.
