We stayed at the Melia Palas for a long girls weekend. It's a lovely 2 km / 15 mins walk along the front of Palma Bay to the bars and restaurants of the Old Town. The hotel reception team were really welcoming. We arrived on an early flight and left late at night to make the most of our short stay, so it was great to be able to use a complimentary courtesy room to shower and change and to leave our bags safely with reception. The hotel has been refurbished and is modern, clean and spacious. Our room was lovely, with a great shower and a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. We also had a mini fridge which was really handy for bottles of water. There is a small shop right outside the hotel for supplies and if you turn right towards the Gran Melia Victoria there is an amazing ice cream bar! The pool area at the Melia Palas is a sun trap and has brilliant views across Palma Bay to the Cathedral, but it's really frustrating that there aren't enough sunbeds especially because there is plenty of space for more on the terrace. The lifeguard did a great job helping people to find somewhere to sit and moving towels left by people to reserve sunbeds, but they could make it a lot easier by just getting some more sunbeds. It's also very annoying that it's hot from 8:30 am but you can't get a towel until after 10 am so you can't really go in the pool. Overall I'd always choose a Melia and would definitely recommend the Melia Palas, but a few more sunbeds would make a huge difference.
